RUT tax deductions
Did you know that you can get help paying for household services through the RUT tax deduction? RUT stands for Cleaning, Maintenance, and Laundry (in Swedish), and it is a tax deduction that can reduce the cost of many of our services. With the RUT deduction, you can get 50% of the labor cost back directly on the invoice.
When you hire a company for household services, you can get a tax reduction, known as the RUT deduction, for part of the labor cost. Only the labor cost is eligible for the RUT deduction, up to 50%. Fuel, vehicle and equipment rental, and other costs around the move that are not labor costs are therefore not covered.
Which moving services are covered by RUT? The RUT deduction applies to household services for private individuals, such as household goods moving and move-out cleaning. Regarding storage, only the labor costs for transporting your belongings to and from the storage facility are valid for RUT.
The deduction cannot be used for storage itself or for the transport of furniture if it is not in connection with a move.
However, all cleaning in the home is covered, regardless of whether it is in connection with a move or not.
RUT is a deduction on your tax, and therefore you must pay enough tax in Sweden to be able to make a deduction (after other tax deductions).
You can only deduct a total of SEK 75,000 per year for RUT and ROT combined – ROT is a similar tax deduction for services such as home renovation.
You don't need to do anything – we take care of everything! When you hire us, we deduct the RUT amount directly from your invoice and provide the required information to Skatteverket.
